Cyber Attack on India: Attack on 500 sites of India, including 70 in Maharashtra

A major cyberattack occurred in the nation on Tuesday. Nearly 500 websites in the country were targeted. They include 70 websites, which includes the website for Thane Police of Maharashtra. Three of them are government-owned. The suspicions have been raised regarding hackers from Malaysia and Indonesia in the investigation.

ADG Pandey said that amidst the ongoing tensions within the country, a number of hackers from the cyber world joined together to carry out the attack. Numerous websites have been compromised across the country. Hackers from the two nations Malaysia as well as Indonesia are being revealed in the investigation. We have yet to receive details on whether the group is operating in India or not.

Thane Police DCP Cyber Cell Sunil Lokhande said that the police website was attacked at about 4 am on the morning of today. Experts in technical support have restored the data and the website. The investigation continues. In the meantime, Maharashtra Home Department has ordered the state’s cyber cell to look into the hacking of websites of the government and other sites. A probe has also been launched into the hacking attack on the Thane Police website.
