MODOK Fans Just Got The News They’ve Been Dreading

One of the most absurd characters from comic book history, who would believe that M.O.D.O.K. to have his own show on Hulu? Yes, this big-headed baddie who’s the definition of dorky looks isn’t top of the list of most popular Marvel names. However, his ability to create comedy made him a great match for series makers Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt. In May 2021, Hulu’s “M.O.D.O.K” mocks a range of Marvel major stays through the lens of its main character named “Mental Organism Designed to Kill.” For Marvel comics, M.O.D.O.K. usually is a villain or for his own profit or for the benefit of his business, A.I.M.

The series on Hulu showcases a different side of the megalomaniac who has a head of melon. In the initial series, M.O.D.O.K. (Patton Oswalt) is a slacker villain whose hopes at A.I.M. will be ruined after GRUMBL (a far bigger mega-corporation, buys the company. In the meantime, the super-powered schlub has to deal with the deterioration of his family life after he divorces his spouse, Jodie (Aimee Garcia), and has a difficult relationship with his children, Melissa (Melissa Fumero) and Lou (Ben Schwartz).

The comical combination of superheroes’ adventures and family sitcom drama was quite successful, but the series’ rating of 66 percent on Rotten Tomatoes shows that not all viewers were a fan of”M.O.D.O.K.” the stop motion Marvel series. For those who have become “M.O.D.O.K.” followers, Hulu has just announced the news they’ve been anticipating for a long time.

Hulu has officially thrown M.O.D.O.K. to the curb.

In a report by Variety, Hulu revealed in the middle of May that it had officially ended “M.O.D.O.K.” after just one episode. The streaming service hasn’t provided any specific reasons for taking “M.O.D.O.K.” to the side however, it’s not the first Marvel show that the company has stopped as it was beginning. Another Marvel comedy show, “Hit-Monkey,” originally airs on Hulu in the month of November 2021, but is still waiting for an additional season as of the moment of writing. Similar to that, Hulu canned would-be shows “Howard the Duck” and “Tigra and Dazzler” prior to when they even got their first season (via Deadline).

On his Twitter account, the actor seemed unhappy with the fact that “M.O.D.O.K.” was a dodo alongside these other shows. “Oh good,” wrote the “Eternals” actor. “Got to collaborate with the top writers, and a dream voice cast and Marvel allow us to play with their toys. Another amazing experience. Forward!”

As per the Variety report, Hulu’s selection of canceled Marvel shows was eventually planned to merge, but the plans were later canceled due to their mutual cancellation as well as the demise of the company that produced them, Marvel Television. With Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios has taken charge of the television division of the company for its numerous Disney+ shows, shows such as “M.O.D.O.K.” were subsequently relegated. Hulu might not have provided the specific reasons for its decision to cancel however, the writing is there. Unfortunately, there could be no space for shows such as “M.O.D.O.K.” in the Marvel schedule.
