After 19 years of the famous Ranjit Singh case, The special CBI court on Friday found guilty of five defendants, including Deramukhi Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. The court has set the 12th of October as the date for the sentence. The court has sentenced Deramukhi Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Krishna Kumar, Avtar, Jasveer, and Sandal.
Guilty Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was in the court of special CBI Court on Friday. He appeared from Sunaria jail as well as Krishna Kumar through video conferencing from Ambala jail. In parallel three of the accused Avatar, Jasveer and Sabdil attended the court in person. A special CBI Judicial Judge Dr. Sushil Garg heard the arguments of the prosecution as well as defense lawyers for around an hour and half an hour before finding them guilty. He then found all five defendants.
The first sentence is to be discussed on October 12, in an exclusive CBI tribunal in Panchkula. Following that, the court will decide. At this hearing, which took place on Friday the court denied the request for Ranjit Singh’s son Jagseer Singh. The court was told through an application by Jagseer Singh that he wishes to file a petition in order to change the judge of the Supreme Court. In response, it was decided that the Special Court Judge, Dr. Sushil Garg, while disapproving the application, stated you were given two days. You can make an application. So, the time for a hearing is not available right today. The judge has ruled against the request.
Attorney for the prosecution HPS Verma told that on August 12, the last arguments for the defense in the 19-year-old case were concluded. It is important to note that the verdict, in this case, was scheduled for the 26th of August. Ranjit Singh’s son submitted a petition to the High Court seeking a change of judge. The decision was in the midst of being awaited because of the hearing of the petition.
We will tell you that the director for Dera Sacha Sauda Ranjit Singh, was killed on the 10th of July, 2002. Dera supporters claimed they believed that Ranjit Singh was distributing anonymous letters regarding the Sadhvi case of sexual abuse. Because of this, five persons which included Dashmi, the Dera chief, executed the murder in concert.
The court convicted of these sections
Deramukhi Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and Krishna Kumar have been convicted by the court under Section 302 (murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. At the same time, Avtar, Jasveer, and Sabadil were found guilty by the court in accordance with sections 302 (murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and the Arms Act of the IPC.
